Conn 424 Pro Vintage Big Band Era Jazz Clarinet
This woodwind is no longer for sale (sold on 2009-12-10)
Price : US $159.50
This is a classic big bore clarinet from the big band era preferred by jazz musicians. This instrument has the matching serial numbers: P283950 which indicate that it was made in 1937. The dense grenadilla wood body is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips or prior repair such as a pinned crack. The bore is smooth and shiney. I am a retired band instrument repair technician I have done a complete overhaul on the horn which include cleaning and oiling the body, replaced all pads, using hard felt double bladder pads on the lower joint and cork pads on the upper, replaced all tenon corks, buffed the nickel silver keys and adjusted, regulated and play tested the clarinet extensively so I can say that it is in excellent play condition. It feels great and has a big sound. I tried various mouthpieces on the horn and found that a 45 Vandoren worked for me, but a mouthpiece will not be included in the sale. I have a special fondness for these old big bore horns which are so rare today. This horn is a good one! This is a professional level clarinet that I wouldn't recommend for a beginner. The case is vintage, but not the original.
I ship FedEx insured and do not ship internationally. Buyer has 3 days after they recieve the item to return it for money back and the buyer pays the shipping.
