Beaugnier, Paris Antoine Courtois Professional Tenor Saxophone, Yellow Brass Finish, s/n 99xx, restored by the Selmer Authorized Dealer, REAL pearl buttons, EXCELLENT playing condition! This horn is a Selmer Mark VI competitor when played with a Meyer 5M mouthpiece & Fred Hemke Premium 4 reed (you will receive a Meyer 6M with this horn, because I don't have 5M on hand; I have gotten an absolutely fabulous sound with my Meyer 4M, but these classic mouthpieces are very hard to find):
The tone of this horn is so superb that it even challenges the ubiquitous Selmer Mark VI! It is stunning, and this is the second time that I have had one of these in the collection (the other one was silver-plated, and it burned too). There is no lacquer to be lost on this horn, because it was designed to be unlacquered: such horns really project!
The Selmer S80 mouthpieces do not bring out the bite in the horn, due to their design for classical applications (too dark), and the recommended Meyer/Hemke combination transforms this horn into a roaring tiger! Thus, you get volume and a superb tone with this fabulous instrument.
