Flageolet: Keith Prowse & Co London Vintage Flute
This woodwind is no longer for sale (sold on 2009-04-17)
Price : US $202.50
This six key Flageolet was manufactured in Germany for Keith, Prowse & Co., London. See http://www.mcgee-flutes.com/KProwse.htm for more info on the company.
I am not sure of the mfg date but it is marked #258 under the makers mark, but guess this was manufactured between 1850 to 1880.
From a Flageolet website, http://www.flageolets.com/articles/flageolet_family.php , I beleive this is a '' Standard English Flageolet with Thumb-hole '' as it has the thumbhole on the back like a recorder, however there is a small hole for the right little finger that does not show up on any of the diagrams on the site.
All the keys were re-padded and the tenon threads replaced a few years ago. I could not find the original beak and believe it has been lost. I have improvised a few different mouthpieces but have not included them in this offering as they are just too crude to belong to such a fine instrument. It has a beautiful sweet sound but I have not been able to play it properly to do it justice. It is in excellent playing condition.
Shipping: International Buyers: $15.00 (US) to Europe and S. America. Other countries please inquire.
