It can be said that the best saxophones were made in France. Just look at the famous names like Selmer Mk VI (Mark 6), Buffet Dynaction and SML. Couesnon belongs in that select group of top French saxes although not well known in the USA. If you're looking for that classic French tenor sound, this is a way to get that sound at a lower price than the other brands. Couesnon is very well respected company who made very fine saxophones which are highly regarded. In fact, Marcel Mule played a Couesnon saxophone in his early career. The company is still in business but no longer make saxes. Monopole Conservatoires was their top of the line professional horn. This rare tenor is in fantastic condition for a horn that's over 40 years old. Someone took very good care of it and it plays great from top to bottom with no sticking keys.
The pads look new. The lacquer is about 90%. There are a few small signs of wear which is natural for an instrument of this age. The serial is 11659 which puts it about 1960. I did not polish or try to clean this sax. Comes with the the original warranty card which is signed by a worker at the factory and includes the matching serial number. The original hard case is also included. The handles and latches work perfectly. The only repairs I can see are one post which was re-soldered and the bell to body brace, which was also re-soldered at the body side. Both look professionally done. There is a dent in the bow rail which is a minor thing and does not affect play. There is also one area with some lacquer loss, including one key which only has about half it's lacquer. Please see last two photos. Paypal is required to bid
