Owning this whistle would put you into an elite group of musicians...those who have had the privilege to own and play and a Thin Weasel made by the late Glenn Shultz. This is a Rosewood (?) whistle made sometime in the mid to late 1980's. I bought the whistle about 1989 as Glenn was just getting his name out and his marketing going. It plays like a dream and has no detrimental signs of wear. The Thin Weasel has been played by the ''greats'' like Joannie Madden and are now highly sought after since there will be no more added to this finite number. It's kinda' like owning a Stradivarius....now that Glenn is gone there will not be any more made at this quality.
The sound is far beyond most whistles I have played. It is strong and stable through 2 full octaves and even into the third. It has a clean, pure, bird-like sound that can easily cut through on orchestra or band. The notes are stable and true and the tuning slide allows enough re-tuning to match other instruments that may be a little off. It comes with Glenn's signature mahoghony case, and is stamped below the joint with Glenn's name and city.
I have babied this whistle for almost 20 years, oiling it regularly and keeping it cased and dry. It is very rare that a Thin Weasel comes up for bid on ebay. Most owners are very reticent to part with them. I am letting this one go because I have just acquired a set of Abell whistles and I don't need two high-end whistles in the same key.
If you would like to hear a recording, then message me and I'll try to get a cut to you.
